The 2024 Kia Forte: Affordable and Upgraded

Posted on

Kia has introduced the 2024 Forte with a starting price of $19,790, just a slight increase from its predecessor, but it remains one of the most affordable cars in America. The Forte holds a significant position as the brand’s second best-selling vehicle in the United States. This model sees minor changes, with the 2024 Forte GT-Line now offering the previously optional Tech Package as standard. This package includes a combination of features like “Front Collision Alert Fusion,” incorporating Front Collision Alert-Cyclist, Electronic Parking, Highway Driver Assist, and Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control.

Apart from these updates, there don’t seem to be any significant changes. The base Forte LX features halogen headlights, body-color components, and 15-inch steel wheels. Its interior includes air conditioning, a four-speaker audio system, and an immobilizer, along with a 4.2-inch multi-information display and an 8-inch infotainment system.

Despite being the entry-level trim, the LX doesn’t skimp on safety. It comes equipped with Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, High-Beam Assist, Rear Occupant Detection Alert, and Driver Attention Warning.

Under the hood, the Forte LX is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque, connected to an Intelligent Variable Transmission that drives the front wheels.

For those seeking more performance, there’s the range-topping Forte GT starting at $24,490. The GT distinguishes itself with sportier styling, including LED lighting units, gloss black accents, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the GT offers a more premium experience with a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel and a choice of SynTex or cloth/SynTex seats. Additional features include alloy pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless smartphone charger, and a six- or eight-speaker audio system. The GT also enhances its driver assistance technology with features like Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Highway Driving Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist.

The performance aspect gets an upgrade too, as the GT swaps out the typical torsion beam for a multi-link rear suspension. More notably, the GT is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generating 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
