The 2024 Kia Niro has just arrived at dealerships across the United States, and the hybrid variant starts at $26,840. While it’s $250 more expensive than the previous year, the Niro comes with a few noteworthy changes.
The 2024 Niro maintains the design from the previous year but has some updates worth mentioning. One significant change is the discontinuation of the Fire Orange Metallic paint option. Additionally, all trims, except the base LX, now feature a dual-level cargo floor.
The base trim, Niro LX, comes with an acoustic windshield, rear privacy glass, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find a 4.3-inch cluster display and an 8-inch infotainment system. Cloth seats, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a four-speaker audio system complete the interior.
In terms of safety, the Niro comes equipped with Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Departure Warning. The model also features Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and Safe Exit Warning.
The Niro EX, priced at $29,540, represents a significant step up. This trim includes heated cloth and leather front seats with ten-way power adjustment for the driver’s side. Buyers will also enjoy rain-sensing wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation. Other amenities include a wireless smartphone charger, second-row air vents, and a Smart Key.
The Niro EX also adds additional driver assistance systems, including an advanced Forward Collision Avoidance Assist system with car, pedestrian, and cyclist detection, as well as junction turning support. Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Rear Parking Distance Warning are also part of the package.
The top-of-the-line Niro SX Touring, priced at $35,240, offers a sunroof, a power liftgate, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find a more luxurious cabin with a heated leather steering wheel and vegan leather seats with heating and ventilation up front. Other highlights include ambient lighting, aluminum pedals, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Regardless of the chosen trim, all Niro Hybrids are powered by a hybridized 1.6-liter engine producing 139 hp (104 kW / 141 PS) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing the Niro to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 10.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 103 mph (165 km/h).
