Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder RS is production-ready

Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder RS

The Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder RS was spotted again. Yes, it's famous. If our sources are true, the RS will have nearly 500 horsepower.

Porsche executives originally hinted to a redesigned 718 Boxster in February 2022. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS had just debuted, so talk of a roofless Boxster version was inevitable.

In May, a Boxster Spyder with extra vents was spotted at the Nurburgring. It had center lock wheels, which Porsche's fastest street vehicles use.

Same features on this vehicle, spotted on Spain's remote roads. Quarter-panel vents suction air near the fabric roof's rear mounting points.

A rear shot of this Porsche shows vent housings angled toward the mid-mount engine, likely enhancing power and cooling airflow. The front is the real deal, not the side vents. Naca hood ducts and fender vents confirm this is a Spyder RS.

We're confident there's an RS-worthy engine behind the driver. The Cayman GT4 RS employs the 911 GT3's 4.0-liter flat-six engine. In the Cayman, it develops 493 horsepower at 9,000 rpm using a dual-clutch transmission.

Given the aerodynamic modifications and center lock wheels on test vehicles, that engine should power the Spyder RS.
