Polestar Models Join The Hertz Dream Fleet

Following a previously publicized agreement, Polestar announced today that it has begun delivering vehicles to Hertz. The rare plug-in hybrid Polestar 1 is now available for rental as part of the deal.

The plug-in hybrid drivetrain of the Polestar 1 generates an impressive 609 hp (454 kW/617 PS) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. Due to its extensive use of carbon fibre and unique Ohlins dampers, it has been hailed as a well-balanced performer.

Hertz has begun receiving all-electric Polestar 2s from Polestar. This is the most significant development for Polestar. The order is significant for the Swedish brand because it is part of a deal to supply the rental company with 65,000 vehicles over the next five years.

"Our partnership with Hertz is an exciting milestone that will allow a large number of potential new customers to experience an electric vehicle for the first time in a Polestar," explains Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

Polestar does not disclose the number of Polestar 2s it has delivered to Hertz, but these are not the only electric vehicles (EVs) the company will provide as part of this agreement.

It will also provide the company with additional models, such as the October debuting Polestar 3 electric SUV.

"We're thrilled to add this first shipment of Polestars to our fleet, expanding the opportunities for Hertz customers to enjoy driving an electric vehicle," says Darren Arrington, executive vice president of Revenue Management and Fleet Acquisition at Hertz.

In addition to soon being able to rent the Polestar 2, the public will be able to see it in Hertz's current "Let's go" marketing campaign.
