Polestar is quietly making electric vehicle gains

Polestar reported in May that it will miss its 65,000-unit manufacturing target by 15,000.

New sales data confirms the brand is on track to accomplish its target. This year, it's sold roughly as many cars as in 2021.

Polestar sold 21,200 automobiles in 2022's first half. That's over 125% more than the 9,510 units it moved in the same period last year.

2021 saw 29,000 Polestar sales. Now, the brand should surpass that.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said it's nice to have so many Polestar 2 customers.

"I'm convinced that the high brand awareness and sales figures we've seen this year will accelerate in the future years as more groundbreaking automobiles are introduced."

The Polestar 3 SUV will support our expansion. It expands our worldwide manufacturing footprint into the U.S. It's a step toward selling 290,000 cars in 2025, 10 times more than in 2021, stated Thomas Ingenlath.

After the Polestar 3, a smaller crossover-coupe will launch in 2023 or 2024. The lineup will be expanded with the Polestar 5, a flagship sedan with Precept-inspired appearance.
