Jeep crowdsources a name for its electric Wagoneer S

Electric Jeep Wagoneer is coming. It introduced the Wagoneer S model in September. It won't be sold under that name. Jeep is holding a name-the-new-Wrangler contest. Winner gets a $40,000 prize package.

The event continues through December 2. Jeep's website provides a form for submissions. The automaker requires 50-character submissions. The winner will ski at Jackson Hole. The package includes travel, hotel, lift tickets, rentals, a guide, and a $1,000 retail gift card.

In the future years, Jeep will add the Wagoneer S EV to its range. Jeep previewed the 2024 Recon, a Wrangler-inspired electrified SUV. In 2024, the US will produce the Recon and Wagoneer S.

The Wagoneer S rides on STLA Large. Jeep expects 600 horsepower from the SUV (441 kilowatts). Jeep plans to deliver the SUV 400 miles of range and 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Dual-motor, all-wheel drive, and less powerful variants are possible.

Reservations for the Wagoneer S will begin in early 2023. That suggests Jeep may debut shortly. Automakers release new technology and electric vehicles at CES in January, replacing the Detroit Auto Show.

Jeep showed a slimline crossover similar in size to the Grand Cherokee rather than the full-size Wagoneer. Automaker called Wagoneer's design distinctive, elegant, and aerodynamic. It'll have "all-terrain management" and "advanced Jeep tech."
