Japan debuts Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Matt Black Edition

Toyota released the Land Cruiser Matt Black Edition for Europe last month, and now it's available for the JDM-spec Land Cruiser Prado. This edition follows last year's 70th anniversary.

The Matt Black Edition gives the SUV a bit more style before the all-new Prado arrives next year. Exterior and interior trim are updated.

The Package Matt Black Edition has matte black grille, headlamp garnish, roof rails, mirror caps, tailgate highlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60R18 tires. Auto-leveling LED headlights and electrically folding mirrors.

Inside, there's black leather seating, wooden dashboard elements, a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation and TV, and a six-speaker music system.

The SUV has two-row and three-row seating options. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are optional with Toyota Safety Sense.

In Japan, consumers can choose between diesel and petrol engines, unlike in Europe. The Matt Black Edition is available with either a 2.8-liter turbodiesel producing 201 horsepower (150 kW / 204 PS) or a 2.7-liter petrol producing 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) and 246 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque. Both have six-speed automatic transmissions that power all four wheels.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Package Matt Black Edition costs between 4,300,000 ($32,859) and 5,118,000 ($39,110) in Japan. Fourth-generation Land Cruiser Prado 150 Series was released in 2009 and updated in 2013 and 2017.
