Huawei, Seres, and CATL will develop a new M3P battery

LFP and ternary batteries are common right now. The LFP batteries last longer, are safer, charge faster, and are cheaper to create. Nickel, cobalt, and manganese are ternary battery anodes.

Smaller, higher energy density, and better cycling performance, however thermal stability is weak and they're pricey due to rare earth minerals.

Huawei and Seres are working with CATL to produce M3P batteries. The battery has 15% more energy density than LFP batteries but costs the same. Cathode materials include ternary lithium and lithium ferromanganese.

LFMP batteries have a high internal resistance and limited life cycle; adding ternary lithium to the cathode helps overcome these issues. Nio, BYD, and Sunwoda are also developing LFMP batteries.

CATL has already mass-produced M3P batteries and will offer them next year. The batteries will be categorized by driving range: 1,000 km, 700 km, and 300 to 500 km. The M3P battery will use the new Qilin construction.
