Hertz will buy up to 175,000 EVs from GM by 2023

Hertz plans to buy 175,000 EVs from GM over the next five years.

Hertz will buy electric vehicles from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, and BrightDrop in the largest "EV expansion among fleet customers." The companies didn't provide many details, but said they'll cover "compact and midsize SUVs, pickups, luxury vehicles, and more."

Hertz customers could find the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Silverado EV. Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Sierra EV are also candidates.

Hertz will receive Bolt EVs and Bolt EUVs in the first quarter of 2023. Shortly after, deliveries will increase as "GM rapidly scales its EV production between 2023 and 2025"

Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said, "We're thrilled to partner with GM on this initiative, which will dramatically expand our EV offering to leisure and business travelers, rideshare drivers, and corporates."

GM executive Mary Barra agreed, saying, "Our work with Hertz is a huge step forward for emissions reduction and EV adoption that will help GM create thousands of new EV customers." Barra said, "I'm confident that each rental experience will increase product purchase consideration and drive company growth."

Hertz has been buying EVs since exiting bankruptcy, as we've reported. Last year, Hertz announced plans to buy 100,000 Tesla Model 3s and 65,000 Polestar EVs.
