As part of Takata's settlement with the U.S. government over faulty airbag inflators, a rolling recall is underway.

Ferrari has issued a recall on passenger-side inflators in vehicles made between 2009 and 2018.

California/T, 458 Italia/Spider/Speciale, 488 GTB/Spider, FF, GTC4 Lusso, F12, F12 tdf are affected. Visit Ferrari's Takata airbag site to see whether your car is affected.

Heat, humidity, and time can deteriorate and absorb moisture from Takata inflator propellant.

In an accident, this could cause the airbag inflator to burst, which could cause significant injury or death.

Owners are discussing the issue on Ferrari Chat. According to a post on the site, replacing the airbag requires removing the glovebox and passenger side dashboard cover. Many have finished repairs.

Ferrari isn't the only company replacing Takata airbags. The effort impacts 69 million automobiles worldwide, including specialized models like the McLaren 570S, Lexus LFA, and Tesla Model S.
