Detroit Auto Show, The 2024 Ford Mustang has 6 models for Racing

2024 Ford Mustang Racing

The seventh-generation Ford Mustang will bring improved performance to the street and the racetrack, where six racing variants have been developed.

Both the Mustang Dark Horse S and R are based on the street-legal model. The Dark Horse S has had all non-essential parts and trim removed and an FIA-certified safety cage, safety nets, a race seat with safety belts, and a quick-disconnect race steering wheel installed.

The Mustang Dark Horse S has a new central panel with switches and knobs. A pit speed limiter and data-acquisition display system have also been added. Customers can ride with a friend using the passenger seat.

Adjustable rear wing, new exhaust system, upgraded brakes, and Multimatic DSSV dampers improve performance.

The Mustang Dark Horse R is fast. It builds on the S but has strategic seam welding, a larger fuel cell, and new Ford Performance wheels.

The 2024 Ford Mustang will have a BMW-style digital dash, a manual transmission, and a keyless-start 5.0-liter V8.

Next comes more serious racing. The new Mustang GT3 IMSA race car will debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2024. It has a 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8 built by Ford Performance and Multimatic.

In 2023, a new Mustang GT4 will race in the IMSA, SRO, and FIA GT championships.

Finally, a new Mustang for Australia's Supercars championship and upcoming models for NASCAR Cup and NHRA Factory X racing.
