Delage D12 Hypercar Speedster Loses Roof

Delage D12 Hypercar Speedster Loses Roof

Delage returned with the D12 hybrid supercar two years ago. The car's US tour is over, and the company has announced that it will be available with two additional canopies, the Speedster and the F1.

Each open-top option costs €190,000 ($190,000 at today's exchange rate). Buy both for €260,000 and save €20,000. The Speedster replaces the canopy with a smaller windshield.

F1 adds a wind deflector. Customers can request a halo and helmet. Two new D12 canopies add versatility.

The GT model's hybridized naturally aspirated V12 produces 1,100 hp (820 kW), while the lighter Club model produces 1,010 hp (753 kW). The D12 Club weighs 2,888 pounds versus 3,086 pounds for the GT.

It has an eight-speed single-clutch transmission. The car reaches 62 mph in 2.4 seconds. The company hopes to set a Nurburgring lap record.

Delage's D12 is touring the US. The company plans to produce 30 cars, with nine destined for the US under "show or display" regulations.

Seven have reservations. The car toured Monterey Car Week, Laguna Seca, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, and New York.

The D12's driver and passenger sit in tandem, giving the supercar a fighter jet-like appearance.

A team of veteran racers with 16 FIA world titles tested and developed the D12 at Magny-Cours in France. Delage hasn't said when production or deliveries could begin, but we hope it's soon.
