Chevrolet to promote Electric Vehicles via NFL

Advertising may be key as more automakers focus on electric vehicles. GM has never shied away from big ad campaigns, and it likely won't now. Chevrolet will run EV ads during Sunday NFL games.

Chevrolet and its rivals are probably already planning for the Super Bowl. Tesla and other startup automakers don't do traditional advertising, but legacy brands have.

Even if the Big Three wanted to reduce their advertising, their competitors may not let them.

According to Automotive News, the Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Silverado EV will all be featured in a Chevrolet ad campaign next year.

Chevrolet's marketing director Steve Majoros said the ads will emphasize that Chevy's EVs are "built for everyone, everywhere."

Mary Barra has said GM will beat Tesla in EVs by 2025. Chevrolet will bring affordable EVs to market, something Tesla hasn't done yet. GM plans to launch cheaper versions of the Equinox EV.

Chevy's ad campaign will last three months. Majoros: "We'll tell America about these great new products during the day and on Sunday Night Football. Simple theme. Everyone, everywhere needs EVs. It's bright, optimistic, and shows the story's progression."
