Cadillac is giving us another look at its future premium CELESTIQ electric sedan by releasing a second batch of teaser photographs that showcase some of the elements of the hand-built "showcar," such as the sharp-looking front quarter panel and lighting characteristics.

"From its distinctive proportions and its easy, sophisticated design language to its accuracy and attention to detail, CELESTIQ is unlike any other vehicle on the road," stated Magalie Debellis, the manager of Cadillac Branded Advanced Design.

"The CELESTIQ exhibition automobile was designed from the beginning to reincarnate the World Standard."

These latest images of the showcar – which sounds like manufacturer-speak for a pre-production model – were taken more than a year after Cadillac originally teased the high-performance, ultraluxury sedan with a full glass roof and a large, free-form display across the width of the dashboard.

The Celestiq will be the first vehicle to provide suspended particle smart glass. At the time, GM had stated that the roof would not be permanently transparent.

Suspended particle glass is primarily composed of two panes of glass sandwiching tiny particles. A charge can be delivered through them, which aligns the black particles and makes them opaque to varying degrees.

Cadillac has not only equipped the dashboard with a display that stretches from one end to the other, but also the rear seats.

In the rear, passengers will have their own entertainment screens as well as a small screen between them to regulate the vehicle's climate.

In addition, the Celestiq will offer a "selected range of hand-crafted materials," as stated by Cadillac. It appears as though there may also be a custom option allowing buyers to create their own unique Celestiq.

It will also include 350 kW quick-charging, all-wheel drive, and four-wheel steering.

The concept, which will incorporate some of the same design language as the Lyriq, was initially designed for a combustion engine vehicle.

According to Cadillac Design Director Brian Smith, the design will be a fastback sedan with a "polarizing" look, based on the few information available. Cadillac wants you to be startled regardless of your position on the love-it-or-hate-it spectrum.

Potentially exceeds $200,000 While GM has not provided a precise date, it appears from these latest teaser images that the "showcar" could be unveiled as early as this year, with the first Celestiq EVs entering production in 2023.

Recent sources suggest that, due to the hand-built, customized nature of the Celestiq, Cadillac intends to keep it as a low-volume, high-priced production model. GM has not verified this, however.
