Bentley begins Bentayga EWB production, highlights attention to detail

Bentley's new flagship model, the Bentayga EWB, began production with new hand-crafting processes.

Each model at the Crewe factory takes more than 132 hours to make, and there are 24 billion trim combinations.

Bentley says the new longer Bentayga has the softest lofted diamond quilting of all its models.

Perforated leather has 1mm holes digitally placed with an embroidery machine and micro-stitch.

68 LEDs are cleverly placed under the leather upholstery to light the 1mm holes in the door panels.

This ambient lighting, called "Bentley Diamond Illumination," can be changed via the infotainment system.

Fine leather is joined by veneers and open-pore wood, with 0.07 mm metal overlays. More than 10 hours are needed to apply the wood set inside the cabin, where tolerances are measured in tenths of mm.

First deliveries of the Bentley Bentayga EWB will begin in September at the Southampton International Boat Show.
