2024 Ford E-Transit Custom to have 236-mile range, "mobile office" option

Ford has unveiled the electric E-Transit Custom. The electric van will have a 74kWh (usable) battery with 380 km of range on the WLTP cycle, 214 horsepower, and 415 Nm (306 lb-ft) of torque.

Ford will produce the E-Transit Custom in Turkey in 2023 after investing $2 billion. Ford Pro, the brand's commercial vehicles branch, is working on four all-electric cars.

The E-Transit Custom is an all-electric version of Europe's best-selling van, the E-Transit. Ford says it designed the Custom from the ground up using small and medium-sized business learnings.

Mobile Office contains a tilting steering wheel that can hold computers or tablets. A flat-top table for meals or writing and dimmable LED lighting are also featured.

The Delivery Assist feature helps drivers make many stops each day and exit the van on time. If park is selected, the EV will activate the danger lights, close any open windows, and lock the door as the driver leaves.

ProPower Onboard can be utilized by tradesmen on the E-Transit, giving up to 2.3 kW through sockets in the cab and load area to power tools.

E-Transit Custom's design has to account for its large battery pack.

Ford engineers built the underbody around the battery to reduce weight and space. Independent semi-trailing arm rear suspension increases comfort and handling while saving space.

The E-Transit Custom's load floor is lower than the outgoing Transit Custom, and its overall height is under two meters to fit in height-restricted car parks.

The E-Transit Custom panel van has a load volume of 5.8 to 9.0 m3, a payload of up to 1,100 kg (2,425 lb), a towing capacity of 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), and a maximum load length of 3,450 mm (135 in). The E-Transit Custom will be available in double-cab-in-van, kombi, short- and long-wheelbase, low- and high-roof body types.

A separate L-shaped bulkhead will offer seating for five and a longer load area.

The range of an electric vehicle is important to potential consumers, especially those who use them for business.

Ford's 236-mile WLTP-estimated range meets its goal (380 km). This beats the Opel Vivaro-205 e's miles (320 km), the Volkswagen ABT e-82 Transporter's miles (131 km), and the Mercedes-Benz eVito's 162 miles (260 km).

To boost efficiency, Ford engineers focused on packaging, materials, and weight. Flat floor, honeycomb grille, and aerodynamic wheel designs make the body 10 percent more aerodynamic. Over 800 designs were created for the rear light cluster's aerodynamics.

First-ever vapor-injected heat pump in an electric vehicle saves energy. You'll also find one-pedal driving equipment like the Ford Mustang Mach E to improve energy gathering. Scheduled PreConditioning lets owners warm or cool the E-Transit Custom's battery and cab before work to maximize range.

The E-Transit Custom will come with a 133 hp or 214 hp powertrain. Both output versions have 415 Nm of torque.

The E-Transit Custom charges 15-80% in 41 minutes at 125 kW. European purchasers will get a 12-month free subscription to the Blue Oval charging network.

The E-Transit will have schedulable OTA upgrades and an eight-year, 160,000-km warranty to reduce downtime.
