Chevrolet Equinox EV

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is a affordable electric crossover

Chevrolet's 2024 Equinox EV has a 300-mile range, eliminating sacrifices (483 km). The crossover promises to be roomy, high-tech, and inexpensive at roughly $30,000.

Chevrolet revealed the first Equinox EV photos in January, and we're still impressed. Designers dubbed the crossover's "less is more" style as "Americana chic" during a press briefing last month.

The crossover has an angular fascia with skinny lighting modules that can be joined by an LED light bar. All buyers get a "walk-up" lighting sequence with front and back animations.

Flush-mounted door handles are rare at this price. They boost aerodynamics and give the crossover a sleek look.

Chevrolet's EV is lower, longer, and wider than its ICE-powered equivalent. The crossover has 19-inch alloy wheels as standard. Higher-end models use aerodynamic 20- and 21-inch wheels.

RS models have unique styling. Buyers will get a black front fascia and an optional black roof. The 2LT has a white roof.

The Chevrolet Equinox EV's stylish cockpit features an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11-inch infotainment system.

The 1LT trim has a floating center console and circular air vents. Cloth seats and hard plastics complement them. The cabin claims to be large, and the crossover will offer up to 1,614 liters of load space. The model has no trunk.

The 2LT adds a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and driver-side eight-way power adjustment. The 2RS has a heated flat-bottom steering wheel and sportier upholstery.

The 3LT and 3RS offer heated front and rear seats and a six-way motorized passenger seat. Heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and 17.7-inch infotainment system are standard. Optional features include a sunroof and Bose audio system.

Chevrolet didn't provide details, but they acknowledged the Equinox EV will have many powertrains. The 1LT has standard and extended range batteries and front- or all-wheel drive.

Front-wheel drive models use a single electric motor producing 210 horsepower and 242 lb-ft of torque. Dual-motor all-wheel drive increases all-weather grip and boosts performance to 290 hp and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm).

Standard battery range is 250 miles (402 km). 300 miles (483 km) with extended range battery, 280 miles (451 km) with all-wheel drive. Standard range battery is limited to the 1LT trim, while AWD requires an upgraded battery.

Standard 11.5 kW Level 2 charging can add up to 34 miles (55 km) per hour. The range-topping Equinox EV 3RS has a 19.2 kW Level 2 charging capacity.

Away from home, owners will appreciate the 150 kW DC fast-charging. It adds 70 miles (113 km) in 10 minutes.

Chevrolet confirmed the Equinox EV will have a vehicle-to-load function that can supply 3 kW. Owners may power accessories while camping or tailgating.

Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning are standard on the 2024 Equinox EV. Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Rear Park Assist are available. Automatic high lights and a Safety Alert Seat complement them.

Adaptive Cruise Control, a Head-Up Display, a Rear Camera Mirror, and HD Surround Vision are also available. Customers can also choose for the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology, which permits hands-free operation on more than 400,000 miles of eligible U.S. and Canadian route.

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will be released as a limited edition in autumn 2023. The entry-level 1LT trim will be the last to arrive within a year.

The Equinox EV's inexpensive price and superb range make it a game changer and will help drive electric vehicles mainstream, since the ICE-powered variant is Chevy's second best-seller.

The business said the crossover cements their status as an EV powerhouse because they'll have entries in three of the most popular U.S. segments: compact crossover, mid-size crossover, and full-size truck.
