2023 Honda Civic Type R debuts July 20

American Honda confirmed the hot hatch's debut, and it will likely be presented for other markets this month.

All-new Civic Type R's likely to include an enhanced version of the FK8's 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder engine, which produces 320 horsepower and 309 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. Six-speed manual transmission powers front wheels via a limited-slip differential.

The 2023 Civic Type R looks great. Its larger grille and redesigned air intakes set it apart from the normal Civic Hatch. Like the FK8, it will have a faux carbon fiber splitter. It has a unique bonnet, black wheels, enlarged side skirts, and red Brembo brake calipers.

The FK8's rear end was controversial, but the 2023 will be less so. Fixed wing, diffuser, distinctive bumper, and three central tailpipes separate it from the ordinary model.

The Civic Type R's cabin will be updated. Bucket seats, a modified steering wheel, red seatbelts, and carbon fiber and red embellishments will be added.

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R debuts July 20 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET.
