2022 Hyundai Elantra

2022 Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra has a fantastic reputation. It was even named North American Car of the Year in 2021. This coveted award is difficult to obtain, especially if your vehicle is not a high-end model.

It also received Kelley Blue Book's Best Buy and 5-Year Cost to Own Awards in 2021. Furthermore, Motor Trend ranks the 2022 Hyundai Elantra as one of the top three small sedans.

Interior and Trim Levels

The interior of the Hyundai Elantra sedan has been praised for having higher quality appointments and better technology in this class. When you look at the premium cloth upholstery and needle punch carpeting, it's easy to see why.

The SE trim level, which is the most affordable on the list, comes with a very generous tech package that includes the touchscreen. The rear bench can be folded to increase trunk space, and there are rear air ducts for added comfort.

Elantra Technology

The Elantra SE comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen with HD radio and a rearview camera with dynamic guidance. Bluetooth, Wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all included in this system. A data USB port and a charger USB port are both useful pieces of equipment.

There are upgrades that include more speakers and features. Hyundai's technology system on the Limited has been upgraded with Dynamic Voice Recognition and the full navigation package with traffic and weather.

The larger 10.25-inch touchscreen features a high-resolution split-screen display and navigation. This display arrangement is compared to the system on a much more expensive Mercedes Benz by Kelley Blue Book. There are dual automatic temperature controls, a wireless charger, and a Boss audio system available.

A 147-horsepower Atkinson engine powers the three main trim levels. The powertrain in the Elantra Hybrid is rated at 139 combined horsepower. The Hyundai Elantra N Line trim comes with a turbo engine that produces 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.

The Hyundai Elantra N is powered by a Flat Power turbo engine that produces 276 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque. Intelligent Variable Transmission (SmartStream) is standard. The N Line offers a 6-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission, and the N 9-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Shiftronic automatic transmissions include paddle shifters for some manual shifting fun.

Size and Specifications

What size is the Elantra? Despite the fact that there are several Elantra models, the standard, hybrid, and N Line all have the same size. That's good news because the passenger cabin measures 99.4 cubic feet, which is exceptional in this class.

Legroom in the backseat is 38 inches. The trunk has a volume of 14.8 cubic feet. The Elantra is a compact car, but it has a larger interior than compact SUVs like the Mazda CX-3 and Toyota RAV4. Similarly, the passenger volume is larger than that of competitors Nissan Sentra and Toyota Corolla.

According to Kelley Blue Book, the Honda Civic has 37.4 inches, which is slightly less than the Elantra. More space is always a better value for your money when it comes to automobiles.

Elantra Safety

The Elantra SE trim level covers a lot of ground. Blind spot detection and lane keep assist work well together to keep drivers out of danger to their immediate right or left.

The basic front-collision avoidance system attempts to warn the driver and/or prevent the vehicle from rear-ending the vehicle in front of it. High beam assist and a driver attention warning are standard features, unlike many competitors.

Highway Driver Assist with junction detection functions and Smart Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go capability are available on the SEL trim level. It also has features to avoid parking collisions, such as reverse automatic braking and parking distance warnings.
